Privacy Policy – NumNum Recipes

Last Updated: October 26, 2025

Hey! We get it—nobody loves reading privacy policies. But this one matters because it’s about your family and your information. We’re going to be straight with you: we collect some information, and we want you to know exactly what we do with it and why.

Information We Collect

Information You Directly Provide:

When you sign up for our newsletter, you’re giving us your email address and (optionally) your first name. That’s it. We don’t need your entire family tree to send you recipes.

When you leave a comment on a recipe, we collect your name, email, and comment text. We use this to respond to you and build our community.

When you submit a recipe question or feedback through our contact form, we collect your name, email, and message so we can actually help you.

Added note: “If we ever sell products or services in the future, we will update this policy to explain how payment information is handled.

Information Collected Automatically:

When you visit numnumrecipes.com, we collect some information automatically:

  • What pages you visit and how long you stay
  • What device you’re using (phone, tablet, computer)
  • Your general location (city/state level, not specific address)
  • What browser you’re using
  • How you found us (search engine, social media link, etc.)

We collect this to understand how you use our site and make it better for you.

Cookies & Tracking:

We use cookies (small files stored on your device) for a few specific reasons:

  • Session cookies: These let you stay logged in if you create an account
  • Preference cookies: These remember your choices (like if you prefer dark mode)
  • Analytics cookies: These help us understand how people use our site using Google Analytics
  • Marketing cookies: We use these sparingly to understand which of our content is most helpful

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features might not work as smoothly.

We use Google Analytics to track how people find and use NumNum Recipes. Google may use this data for their own purposes per their privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics with their browser extension.

Third-Party Services:

We use several third-party services that may collect information:

  • Social Media: When you interact with our social media accounts, those platforms collect their own data per their privacy policies
  • Affiliate Programs: If we recommend products, we may use affiliate links that track clicks (though not personal information)*

How We Use Your Information

To Send You What You Signed Up For: Your email gets recipes, tips, and occasional updates—that’s it. We’re not selling it. We’re using it to send you the stuff you asked for.

To Improve NumNum Recipes: We analyze how people use the site to make it better. Which recipes are popular? What’s confusing about navigation? Where do people get stuck? That helps us build a site that actually works for you.

To Respond to You: When you email us, leave a comment, or fill out a form, we use your information to actually get back to you. Revolutionary concept, I know.

To Comply With The Law: If we’re legally required to share information (like with law enforcement), we will. But we won’t volunteer information, and we’ll tell you if we can legally do so.

We Don’t:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Share your email with unrelated companies
  • Use your information for purposes you didn’t agree to
  • Send you marketing emails you didn’t sign up for

Data Protection & Security

Here’s what we do to keep your information safe:

  • We use SSL encryption (that little lock icon in your browser) when you enter any information
  • We limit who on our team can access personal information
  • We regularly review our security practices

That said, no online system is 100% secure. We do our best, but if a major security issue ever happened, we’d tell you promptly and clearly.

Your Privacy Rights

CCPA Rights (If You’re in California):

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect
  • Delete information we’ve collected (with some exceptions)
  • Opt out of the “sale” of personal information (we don’t actually sell data, but the law has specific language about this)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights (we won’t penalize you)

Email [email protected] to exercise any of these rights. We’ll respond within 45 days.

Unsubscribe From Email:

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it, and you’re off our list. No judgment, no “are you sure?” nags. You can also email [email protected] and ask to unsubscribe.

Children’s Privacy

NumNum Recipes is designed for parents, not children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover we have, we’ll delete it immediately.

Parents: If your child gave us their information without your permission, let us know at [email protected] and we’ll handle it right away.

Our site links to other websites (recipe sources, nutrition resources, product recommendations). We don’t control those sites, so their privacy policies apply to them. We’re not responsible for what they do with your information.

When we link to something, it’s because we genuinely think it’s helpful—but we’re not endorsing everything about their privacy practices.

Changes to This Policy

The internet and privacy laws evolve, so this policy might change. We’ll update it here and note the change date at the top. If there’s a significant change, we’ll try to notify you via email.

Your continued use of numnumrecipes.com after changes means you accept the new policy. If you don’t agree with changes, you can unsubscribe from our email list and stop using the site. For more information about the rules for using NumNum Recipes, please read our Terms of Service.
